Find The Group For You
Community is incredibly important to us and we believe one of the best ways to stay connected and live life well together is getting connected with a group. From meals and fun outings, to in-depth Bible studies, we have a variety of groups available that may fit what you're looking for. We have consistent groups for kids, teens, and young adults. Our other adult groups can change based on availability and location. Contact us and we will help you get in touch with the right group for you!

Fellowship Groups
Why Fellowship Groups
Like any family, the church family of First United Methodist Church knows the best way to grow is to spend time together. We have tons of opportunities for you to fellowship with us. Whether it’s a meal, a fun outing to the park, a movie, or a game of basketball, we just want you to have a chance to interact with other Christians. What better way to find new friends and get more connected to the church and the Lord.
Fellowship Group Offerings
Sunday Fellowship
Sundays before and after services
Don’t run off right after church - coffee and snacks are offered along with great fellowship between services every Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. Stop in for a few minutes, grab a cookie (donuts every second Sunday), pull up a chair, and enjoy some time with your church family. More than 120 people fellowship here each week and we’d love you to join us.
Wednesday Night Meal
Wednesdays at 5:15 PM
A meal is served Wednesday nights throughout the school year from 5:15-6:45 PM in Fellowship Hall. Cost is a freewill offering. We serve about 120 people every week. It is a time for food and fellowship and is popular with those attending a Wednesday night activity. Others stop in for the food and fellowship on their way home.
If you or a group you are a part of would like to provide a meal as a fundraising opportunity, please contact the church office for more details.
United Methodist Women
First Wednesdays, October through June
United Methodist Women is an organization for any/all United Methodist women! UMW’s purpose is “to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the United Methodist Church.” Our membership is “divided” among seven Circles who meet at different times once each month, some morning, some afternoon, some evening. All together we meet for a “General” luncheon and program on the first Wednesday of each month, October through June. As a new (or long-time) member of our church, we would welcome you! Please call Ruth Staley at (308) 234-1284 for more information.
Men's Group
Wednesday Mornings 7 AM
At this time First United Methodist Church does not have a chartered United Methodist Men group, but the Wednesday Men’s Breakfast group is the most active. With the right leadership, evening or weekend activities such as bible studies, discussion groups, sports activities, support groups for young parents, prayer groups to support the church activities, or self-selected activities could be expanded. The Wednesday breakfast group provides good fellowship while enjoying breakfast at HyVee. Discussions on our adult bible steady booklet or discussion of current events have been the most recent activities. All are welcomed! We meet every Wednesday morning at 7 AM at Hy-Vee. We invite you to come!
Serendipity Groups
Unavailable due to COVID
Looking for an easy way to meet new people in the church? Then Serendipity groups are for you. Groups consist of 6-8 adults who get together once a month for good old-fashioned Christian fellowship at local restaurants. After four months, we switch it up so you get a chance to meet a new group of people. Contact Arlene Shoemaker at (308) 236-8640 or the church office at (308) 237-3158 to sign up.
Widow's Ministry (S.P.I.C.E)
First Wednesday, October through June
“Serving Persons In Crisis Everyday” or S.P.I.C.E. is a support group for widowed women. Their monthly meetings alternate between study and social time. Their socials include picnics, going out to eat at local restaurants, playing cards, and bingo. Contact Virginia Britton at (308) 236-5862 for more information on this group.
Young Adults Group
Wednesday Nights 7 PM | Chapel
This group is open to all young adults college age through to 40-year-olds looking for a place to belong. This group has a Bible study on Wednesday nights. The topic of the Bible study is decided by the group and lead by Pastor Seungli. Every other week, the group has a fun outing as a chance to get to know each other beyond the Bible study.
