KEARNEY HIGH MEMORABILIA Connie Francis, a retired teacher in the Keraney Public Schools, began a project a few years ago to gather memorabilia from the Kearney Public Schools to start an archive of items of historical interest. Would you please help us by: 1. checking what you have that you would like to either a. donate or b. have listed in a database for those times when we mount special displays (the all class reunion in September, 2003 will probably be our first effort at this) 2. forwarding this information onto others who could help 3. sending addresses of former classmates or teachers with whom you are in contact so that we can mail them a letter to Nancy McCammon-Hansen, P.O. Box 1053, Kearney, NE 68848-1053, or nancyha@nebi.com We are looking for items for all grades, K-12, and all schools. In particular, we are on a search for yearbooks as they seem to be one item that we could use in quantity. The public library has few so it would be nice to have a set for them plus a set for the archives in addition to the ones at Kearney High. Nancy is also looking for band memorabilia. Her son's band uniform was retired into the archives this year and it would be great if we could get enough band uniforms, t-shirts, photos and programs to do a display of the history of the Kearney High Band. If you've been looking for an excuse to get rid of some of your old junk, remember that it might be our treasure and let me know what you've got. Thank you! Nancy McCammon-Hansen

We know it’s summer when Vacation Bible School is humming around the church, and when children walk around, singing songs you have not heard before, songs about Jesus’ love. We have successfully completed our daytime session of VBS, with a larger attendance than during the last couple of years, and we had five members of our Youth helping, in addition to parent volunteers, and plenty of Fifth Grade Crew Leaders. We would like to thank so many of you for being involved with our children, whether by donating items, using your talents of music, cooking/baking, imagination, creativity, organizational skills, and/or energy to provide the children with games and PE and so much more. Thank you!!! The Daily Offering amounted to $66.25 and will be combined with July’s Offering and sent to UMCOR to benefit needy children. Now we are ready for our July evening program. If you have a few spare evenings between 21st and 25th July, we would love to hear from you. Think about helping, and seeing the enthusiasm of your children as they go from one activity to another. I hope you are enjoying your children during the summer. I am! The Serious Fun Puppeteers continue to expand their repertoire and membership, and have been invited to several outside functions, as well as performing to groups within the church. During the summer, I will be doing a Children’s Story Time in the Mall at C&R Toys, from 10:30 to 11:00 am. Our Day Care children will still be having their Story Time at 2:00 pm in the Choir Room. If anyone is interested in joining/helping the Puppets, or helping at VBS, just give me a call. (308) 237-3158. Thank you. Valerie
Applying Bible Principles "For the love of money is the root of all evils" (1 Tim. 6:10).
How would people describe you? Are you one who "loves" money? Is your life marked by a continual inordinate concern about and striving for money? If so, then perhaps you are one who truly "loves" money.
Money is neutral. It is neither good nor bad. What matters is our attitude towards it. If we view it as a means to an end, a means of exchange, and something God can use in our lives to bring glory to Himself, then we probably do not love money. On the other hand, if we are always wanting more and more money, if we will do just about anything to obtain it, and if we think about money more than anything or anyone else, we likely are guilty of loving money. In that situation, it has become a "god" to us, and we bow at its altar in continuing service in order to obtain more and more of it.
If you are determined to get rich, no matter what, before you continue that lifestyle, read Paul's admonition to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:9-10. Consider Solomon's counsel in Proverbs 11:28 and Ecclesiastes 5:10-11. And think about the words of the Lord Jesus in Matthew 6:24, who said, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
Or as Jesus would say, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." ****************************************************************************************** "A Brokxn Kxy"
